Development of new melamine tableware and customer-specific mold
When the existing model can not meet the product shape, size, thickness, weight, structure or surface effect requirements, you can enter the new model and exclusive mold development process. Hill completes product and mold design, 3D modeling, rendering and 3D printing verification in-house, and the physical mold is manufactured by professional partners.
Variations in shape, thickness, or weight cannot usually be achieved directly on the original mold. The new mold project needs to confirm the structure, surface, bottom mark, mold fee, sample standard and target market requirements before opening the mold.
What information can customers use to initiate new device development?
STP 3D file
When the customer has complete 3D data, it can be used for structural evaluation, process adjustment and mold design interface.
physical sample
Customers can provide reference objects, measured by Hill, modeled and redesigned in conjunction with the melamine production process.
Dimensions and plans
When a 3D file is not available, key dimensions, floor plans, and functional requirements are available for modeling from scratch by Hill.
Concept and Usage Requirements
From the dishes, sets, display, storage, holding or retail positioning, the first to complete the product structure and appearance direction.
Which adjustments usually require a new mold?
Brand new plates, bowls, cups, trays, fruit plates or other product types;
Structural changes such as length, width and height, capacity, grid, edge and bottom foot;
Obvious adjustment of product thickness or weight class;
Need to form a bright, matte, oil fog or sun grain and other specified mold surface effects;
Specific undermarks, embossments, relief textures or structural logos need to be formed in the mold.
Anti-slip painting, laser engraving and UV DTF crystal transfer labels are special treatments that can be evaluated without changing the original mold and should not be mixed with the new mold surface effect.
How to advance from product concept to mold sample?
Confirm usage scenario, target size, capacity, weight, surface, and budget boundaries;
Complete product design, 3D modeling and effect rendering;
Check the scale, structure, grip, stack or suit relationship through 3D printing;
Confirm the mould scheme, base mark, surface effect and mould cost;
The customer pays the mold fee and arranges the physical mold manufacturing;
Test mold and make new mold samples, check the size, weight, deformation, surface and performance;
After the sample is confirmed, perfect the production standard and enter the mass production.
How is the ownership and custody of the mold agreed?
The customer's exclusive mold, which is paid by the customer for the mold fee, is used exclusively by the customer as agreed upon by the project between the two parties and is kept by Hill with the assistance of the customer. At present, the fixed storage period is not uniformly set, and the specific ownership, scope of use, maintenance, deactivation and subsequent processing methods should be specified in the project documents.
Products with similar appearance in the same category do not mean that molds can be used universally. Different brands, sizes, bottom structures, weights, and surface details may require individual mold solutions.
Common Problems in Mold Development
Only in kind, no drawings can be developed?
You can. Three-dimensional models can be measured and built based on physical objects, but it still needs to be confirmed which parts can be referenced, which parts need to be redesigned, and related rights boundaries.
Do I need a new mold to change the weight of the product?
Thickness and weight will affect the mold cavity and molding conditions, usually need to modify or new mold, can not default to the original mold directly.
Is the 3D printed sample the final melamine sample?
It's not. 3D printing is mainly used for structure and appearance verification; the final material, color, surface and production performance need to be confirmed by solid mold samples.
Submit new model or customer-specific mold requirements
Please provide STP documents, physical, dimensional drawings or product concepts, and explain the purpose, expected quantity, target market, surface effect and hope to solve the problem. We will first determine whether we can use the existing model or whether we need a new mold.
